The Classroom Experience

 

Computer Classrooms and Labs
The NMSU English Department maintains two computer classrooms and a small lab area for Department-taught courses and students.

The computer classroom in English Building/Clara Belle Williams Hall in room 121 is available for class check out through the procedures discussed below. It contains 24 networked PCs running Windows XP. Students have access to their Home Directories and printing is available. A ceiling-mounted projector allows teachers and students to give presentations and conduct demonstrations (be sure to check out a remote from the English Department office staff). Users also have access to the following software:


  • Microsoft Office (word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and page layout applications)
  • Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash (HTML editor and web animation applications)
  • Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (graphic design applications)
  • Internet Explorer (web browser)

When not in use for classes, the lab is open the following hours:
Monday - Thursday: 8am - 6pm
Friday: 8am - 6pm
Saturday - Sunday: 10am - 6pm

The computer classroom in Engineering Complex III room 301 is open only under instructor supervision (check out key from office staff before each class). It is available for class check out through the procedures discussed below. It contains 24 networked PCs (and an additional networked instructor podium) running Windows XP. Students have access to their Home Directories and printing is available. A ceiling-mounted projector allows teachers and students to give presentations and conduct demonstrations. Additionally, a document camera, VCR, and DVD player are also built into the room. Users also have access to the following software:
  • Microsoft Office (word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and page layout applications)
  • Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash (HTML editor and web animation applications)
  • Adobe Photoshop (graphic design application)
  • Internet Explorer (web browser)
