Casey Gray has taught in the NMSU English Department as an adjunct faculty member for several years. He is now a college-track instructor of English and the current Writing Center Director. He teaches a variety of composition, literature, creative writing, and professional writing courses.

Gray earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, with a minor in English (2001) and his Master of Fine Arts in Fiction (2004) from New Mexico State University. Gray became interested in writing while attending New Mexico State University on a football scholarship.


His first novel, Discount, is forthcoming from Overlook Press. The primary setting for the book is a big-box retailer in southern New Mexico. The narrative point of view follows customers and associates as their disparate lives and stories rise and converge, affecting each other in subtle and profound ways. His fiction has also appeared in Ploughshares literary magazine
