The Nelson Boswell Reading Series presents Denise Chávez

La Sociedad Para Las Artes at New Mexico State University kindly invites you to an afternoon reading featuring Denise Chávez, and special guests Alessandra Narváez Varela and Anelise M. Elmquist, at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18th, 2022, on Zoom, ID: 944 0993 9299.

 

Denise Chávez is a Fronteriza writer, bookseller, and activist for sentient life. She is the owner, with her husband, Daniel Zolinsky, of Casa Camino Real Bookstore in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Chávez is the author of The King and Queen of Comezón, Loving Pedro Infante, A Taco Testimony: Meditations on Family, Food and Culture and Face of An Angel, among other works.

 

Alessandra Narváez Varela is a poet from Ciudad Juàrez who works as a lecturer of creative writing at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her debut book, Thirty Talks Weird Love, is a young adult novel in verse published by Cinco Puntos Press, an imprint of Lee and Low Books

 

Anelise M. Elmquist is an 8th grader at Sierra Middle School and a member of the Ysleta Del Sur Tigua Indian Tribe. She loves creating art for her business, Art for the World, and is currently working on several books including a sequel to Cooper’s Tale.
